    Abstract: A thermoplastic polycarbonate composition comprising: 5 to 28 wt % of a brominated polycarbonate; 45 to 90 wt % of a homopolycarbonate having a weight average molecular weight from 20,000-25,000 grams/mole as measured via gel permeation chromathography using bisphenol A homopolycarbonate standards; 0 to 15 wt % of an aromatic poly(ester-carbonate) comprising carbonate units derived from bisphenol A, resorcinol, or a combination thereof, and ester units derived from a bisphenol, preferably bisphenol A, or resorcinol, and terephthalic acid, isoterephthalic acid, or a combination thereof, wherein a molar ratio of carbonate units to ester units ranges from 1:99 to 99:1; 2 to 10 wt % of a core-shell impact modifier; 1 to 7 wt % of an α,β-unsaturated glycidyl ester copolymer impact modifier; 0.6 to 3.5 wt % color composition comprising titanium dioxide and carbon black; wherein the wt % of each component is based on the total weight of the composition, which totals 100 wt %.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are compositions comprising from about 26 wt. % to about 89 wt. % of a polycarbonate polymer component, from about 0.5 wt. % to about 20 wt. % of phosphazene-based flame retardant, from about 0.01 wt. % to about 4 wt. % of a siloxane component, and from about 10 wt. % to about 50 wt. % of a filler component, wherein all weight percent are based on the total weight of the composition. The composition may exhibit a notched Izod impact strength of at least 150 J/m when tested in accordance with ASTM D256 at 23° C. and 5 ft-lb on a 3.2 mm bar specimen, a tensile elongation less than or equal to 2% when tested in accordance with D638 at 5 mm/min at break on a Type I bar specimen, and the composition achieves a p(FTP) of at least 0.85 for normal V0 of at 1.2 mm according to UL 94 (2019).

    Abstract: A laser platable thermoplastic composition includes from about 38 wt % to about 90 wt % of a thermoplastic polymer, from about 0.01 wt % to about 15 wt % of a laser activatable metal compound, and from about 0.01 wt % to about 60 wt % of a magnetic filler. The magnetic filler includes a magnetic alloy. Methods for making laser platable thermoplastic compositions and articles formed therefrom—such as an induction heater for a domestic or commercial appliance—are also described.
