Abstract: A dose request device for a medicament delivery device can include a housing, a dose request button, a short-range non-contact identifier, a communication interface configured to communicate with the medicament delivery device, and a controller. The short-range non-contact identifier can be configured to be capable of reading an identification code from a tag when the tag is disposed within a first range and not to be able to read the identification code from the tag when the tag is disposed beyond a second range. The controller can be configured and programmed to determine whether the identification code read by the short-range non-contact identifier matches any authorized identification code of a set of one or more authorized identification codes, and if so, and if the dose request button is pressed, the controller can then communicate a dose request to the medicament delivery device via the communication interface.

A patient care system including at least one embedded server controlling device configured to make patient-specific care decisions and an associated network of devices operably coupled to a patient and configured to be controlled by the at least one controlling device.

Abstract: A medical device includes a placeable control panel and a medical device control module configured to provide at least one of a therapeutic or a patient monitoring function. The placeable control panel can include a surface that includes button markings and a responder wirelessly interrogateable to report at least application information of the placeable control panel. The medical device control module can include an outer surface configured to receive the placeable control panel such that the button markings of placeable control panel are accessible to a user. The medical device control module also can include an interrogator configured to wirelessly interrogate the responder of the placeable control panel for the application information of the placeable control panel and a controller operatively coupled to the interrogator. Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to drug delivery infusion profiles that can be transferred and executed on infusion pumps without the need for loading new firmware. Particularly, embodiments relate to integrating and/or editing delivery profiles for execution infusion systems. Such systems can include target-controlled infusion systems. Advantages of such embodiments include enabling healthcare providers and medical device companies to respond quickly to changes in infusion pump technology, drug development, and pharmacokinetics by providing the ability to create, edit, integrate, and store delivery profiles to accommodate these changes.

Abstract: A method for associating medical devices is provided. The method can include providing a plurality of medical devices and each of the medical devices can include an accelerometer configured to measure spatial accelerations of the medical device. Each of at least two of the medical devices can measure with its accelerometer an acceleration pattern with respect to time. The method can include comparing for correspondence, according to defined correspondence criteria, the measured acceleration patterns, and associating all of the medical devices that measured acceleration patterns that satisfy the defined correspondence criteria. The method can also include modifying a parameter of each member of a set of devices that are associated.

Abstract: An infusion pump includes a pumping mechanism having at least one sensor and a pump motor and a pump control subsystem configured to control operation of the pumping mechanism, the pump control subsystem including a processor, a memory, and a startup module configured to drive the pump motor at a first rate, receive input from the at least one sensor, and drive the pump motor at a second rate based on the input received from the at least one sensor.
