Abstract:
The invention refers to a light assembly (1, 100) for a vehicle design element, the assembly including: a light guide (20, 120, 220), the light guide (20, 120, 220) including a plurality of light receiving surfaces (23, 23a, 123); and a plurality of light sources (131), preferably in form of light emitting diodes (LEDs) on a circuit board (30, 130), the light sources (131) being arranged adjacent to and directed towards respective light receiving surfaces (23, 23a, 123); characterized in that the light guide (20, 120, 220) is shaped to define an annular base (21, 121) lying in a first plane and at least one circumferential flange or cylinder (24, 24a, 25, 25a, 124, 125) disposed generally orthogonal, or inwardly or outwardly splayed to the first plane, the flange or cylinder (24, 24a, 25, 25a, 124, 125) extending away from the annular base (21, 121) towards a viewable annular light exit (26, 26a, 27, 27a, 126, 127), the base (21, 121) including a plurality of shaped elements, in particular in form of disconnections, recesses, holes or wedge-shaped protrusions (22, 122), extending away from the first plane, each shaped element defining one of the light receiving surfaces (23, 23a, 123) for receiving incident light from a respective adjacent light source (131), wherein a plurality of the light receiving surfaces (23, 23a, 123) are orientated substantially transverse to the base (21, 121). In addition, a vehicle design element with such a light assembly is provided.
Abstract:
A light assembly for a vehicle design element includes a light guide, the light guide including a plurality of light receiving surfaces; and a plurality of light sources, the light sources being arranged adjacent to and directed towards respective light receiving surfaces, where the light guide is shaped to define an annular base lying in a first plane and at least one circumferential flange or cylinder disposed generally orthogonal, or inwardly or outwardly splayed to the first plane, the flange or cylinder extending away from the annular base towards a viewable annular light exit, the base including a plurality of shaped elements extending away from the first plane, each shaped element defining one of the light receiving surfaces for receiving incident light from a respective adjacent light source, where a plurality of the light receiving surfaces are orientated substantially transverse to the base.
Abstract:
A pivot mechanism (10) for a vehicle external rear view mirror assembly including: a base frame portion (20) and a case frame portion (30) mounted to the base frame portion (20) for rotation about a pivot axis (12). A detent (40) operable between the base frame portion (20) and the case frame portion (30) is provided. The detent (40) has an engaged position and a disengaged position, the disengaged position allowing the rotation about the pivot axis (12). A spring mechanism (50) clamps the case frame portion (30) to the base frame portion (20) and a first set (42) of detent features to a second set (46) of detent features. A support arm (70) having an attachment end (72) and a floating end (78) is provided. The attachment end (72) is fixed to, and is fixed against rotation with respect to the case frame portion (30), and the second set (46) of detent features is fixed against rotation with respect to the base frame portion (20).
Abstract:
A pivot connection comprising a substantially cylindrical head (14) to be pivotally located into a socket, at least one first surface on the socket that engages one side of the outer surface of the cylindrical head (14), and second surfaces that engage the ends of the cylindrical head (14) on a side substantially opposite to the at least one first surface to thereby retain the cylindrical head (14) within the socket.
