Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing a program and method for adding time-based captions to captured video. The program and method provide for displaying, by a messaging application, a preview user interface for previewing and editing captured video in order to generate a media content item, the preview user interface including an interface element which is selectable to switch to a captions user interface for adding a caption to the media content item; switching, in response to first user input selecting the interface element, to the captions user interface which is configured to receive user input for caption content and a duration to display the caption content; receiving, via the captions user interface, second user input for the caption content and the duration; and generating the media content item based on the caption content and the duration to display the caption content.

Abstract: Embodiments for communicating and displaying collections of image and video clip content with an opt-out interstitial are described. In one example embodiment, a device receives interface information about a group of content collections from a server computer system. When a user inputs a selection of a first content collection, the device displays images and video clips in a sequence defined by the content collection. Each piece of content is displayed for less than a threshold display time. When the device finishes playing the first content collection, the device presents an opt-out interstitial. Additional content collections generated from content submitted by other client devices can be received from the server computer system, and are presented based on a response input, or a lack of response input, to the opt-out interstitial. Some embodiments include content collections generated by the server computer system, as well as advertising elements presented between content collections.

Abstract: Systems and methods for causing display of a messaging achievement pictograph based on messaging activity are provided. In some example embodiments, a message activity communication is received by a messaging activity service from a client device, the messaging active communication causing and adjustment to a message activity score and the message activity score transgressing a first threshold activity score. Responsive to the message activity transgressing the first threshold activity score, an achievement pictograph is displayed on the client device. In some example embodiments, the pictograph may be ephemeral and removal of the pictograph may be triggered by a designated time or by the message activity score transgressing a second threshold activity score. In some example embodiments, a notification is generated that notifies a user of the display or removal from display of the achievement pictograph.
