Abstract: Disclosed is a method of receiving and processing navigation inputs executed by one or more processors in a head-wom device system including one or more display devices, one or more cameras and a generally vertically-arranged touchpad. The method comprises displaying a first carousel of AR effects icons, receiving a first horizontal input on the touchpad, rotating the first carousel of AR effects icons in response to first horizontal input, receiving a first touch input on the touchpad to select a particular AR effects icon that is in a selection position in the first carousel, displaying a scene viewed by the one or more cameras, the scene being enhanced with AR effects corresponding to the particular AR effects icon, receiving content capture user input, and in response to the content capture user input, capturing a new content item corresponding to the scene.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing a program and method for displaying augmented reality content. The program and method provide for receiving, from a first application running on a device, a request to switch to a second application on the device, the request identifying augmented reality content to display with image data captured by a camera of the device; providing, in response to receiving the request, for switching from the first application to the second application; providing for the second application to activate the camera to capture the image data; and providing for the second application to display the image data captured by the camera with the augmented reality content.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer -readable storage medium storing at least one program and a method for rendering virtual modifications to real-world environments depicted in image content. A reference surface is detected in a three-dimensional (3D) space captured within a camera feed produced by a camera of a computing device. An image mask is applied to the reference surface within the 3D space captured within the camera feed. A visual effect is applied to the image mask corresponding to the reference surface in the 3D space. The application of the visual effect to the image mask causes a modified surface to be rendered in presenting the camera feed on a display of the computing device.
