Abstract: A base station 2 adds area information indicating at least one area into which it is desired to broadcast main information to the main information and transmits the information combination. A receiver 3 which receives that information from the base station includes a position acquisition unit 17 that acquires position information, a comparator 32 that compares the acquired position information with the area information, and a reception decoder 35, which performs reception processing of the main data in accordance with the results of the comparison by the comparator. Thus, for example, vehicles in a certain area may receive broadcast traffic information directly relevant to the area. The position acquisition unit includes a user settable position information setting element 13, 14 for setting the position information. In an alternative embodiment the current position is determined from position information acquired from a cell phone or personal handyphone system. Apparently, acquisition of the position utilising a GPS system and providing the main information on the basis of the GPS position is a known technique.

Abstract: A data processing system, recording device, data processing method and program providing medium execute authentication processing and content storing processing between two apparatuses that execute data transfer taking into consideration utilization restraint of contents. A plurality of key blocks are formed which stores key data for authentication processing in a recording device, and key data of the plurality of key blocks is made data that is different for each block. Key block designation information is set in a recorder/reproducer, which is configured for executing authentication processing with the recording device by designating a key block. The recorder/reproducer can set a key block for each product, model or the like, and can easily set utilization restraint of contents in the reproducer. In addition, since a storing key stored in each key block is different, data stored in a storage section of the recording device in a different key block cannot be utilized in a recorder/reproducer in which other key block is set, and circulation of key data or the like can be prevented. Furthermore, an encryption processing controlling section of a recording device executes control for executing commands that is required for authentication processing, encryption processing of stored data and the like in accordance with a setting sequence defined in advance. The controlling section monitors a command number transmitted from a recorder/reproducer to the recording device, and receives and executes only a command number that complies with the sequence defined in advance. Since a command sequence is set to execute an authentication processing command prior to an encryption processing command, only the recorder/reproducer that has completed the authentication processing can execute storing in the recording device and reproduction processing of contents, and contents utilization by an illegal instrument that has not completed the authentication processing can be eliminated.

Abstract: A console 3, such as incorporated in a personal computer or a set-top box or particularly a video game machine, is connected to a public telephone network 11 via a wireless link which transmits an analog signal between an adapter 4 connected to the console 3 and a master device 2 which is connected by a cable to the telephone network 11. The master device 2 may be the base station of an analog cordless telephone system for home use, and can communicate with a slave device (21, Fig.2) of the cordless phone system as well as with the adapter 4. A connection to the telephone network 11 via the master device 2 is initially set up by dialling a telephone number on the slave device (21), and the adapter 4 can then communicate with the network 11 via master device 2 once the connection has been established. The slave device (21) is also used to initiate a disconnection. The adapter 4 may be operable according to a plurality of protocols so that it can be used with master devices 2 having different protocols. The adapter 4 may also be mounted on the back of a main body (52, Fig.7) of the console 3. A video game program may be read into the console 3 from the telephone network 11 via the master device 2 and the adapter 4. The system allows the console 3 to be positioned without regard to where the jack (34, Fig.3) for connection to network 11 is located, and allows communication between the console 3 and the network without use of a modem.
