Abstract: A disc reproduction apparatus, configured so that a voltage-controlled oscillator (113) is used as a means of giving a reference frequency to an analog phase-locked loop circuit (110), a control voltage based on a speed error of the rotational speed of a spindle with respect to the reference speed is given to this voltage-controlled oscillator by a rotational speed measuring circuit (111), and a reference clock (PLLCKxL) is produced in the analog phase-locked loop circuit (110) based on the oscillation frequency output by this voltage-controlled oscillator (113) and, at the same time, the reproduction clock (PLLCK) is produced by a digital phase-locked loop circuit (120) based on this reference clock, whereby the operation becomes stable with respect to external disturbances of the rotation and high speed access is enabled.

Abstract: A plurality of pickups (3a, 3b) are provided for reading information recorded on a disc (1). Each of the pickups is provided with a signal processing system and a control system. Each of the signal processing systems and the control systems is controlled by a system controller (8) such that, while one pickup is reading the information, another pickup is moved to a next information reading position and put in a standby state. As soon as the former pickup has completed the reading operation, the latter pickup gets out of the standby state to be ready for reading the information at the above-mentioned next position. This novel set-up reduces seek time significantly.

A desired reproduction speed is settable by adequately selecting the respective frequency division ratios of the 14/M frequency divider (91) and the 1/N frequency divider (93), and a play mode is switched to, e.g., 2-fold speed reproduction upon occurrence of a track jump caused during a 1-fold speed play mode by any external disturbance such as shock.

Abstract: An optical disc player wherein an amount of jitter in a write clock (WRCK) as opposed to a read clock (RFCK) is detected by a jitter counter (28), the write clock (WRCK) is counted by a reference counter (29) for a predetermined number of frames, the jitter amount is added/subtracted to/from the count output by an adder/subtractor (30), an offset of a further predetermined number of frames is given to a result of the addition/subtraction to generate a subcode synchronizing signal (GRSCOR) completely synchronized with the read clock (RFCK). The subcode synchronizing signal (GRSCOR) is outputted through an output determining circuit (32) only when a reproduction subcode synchronizing signal (SCOR) is found matching by a match detector (33) with the count output of the reference counter (29) twice successively. The novel constitution can correctly perform sound linking even for software having successive fixed patterns and perform sound linking without error even if reproduction data at sound linking point is processed with previous-value hold or interpolation.
