Abstract: Un sistema de grabación y/o reproducción de disco óptico, para grabar o reproducir una pluralidad de discos ópticos de tipo reflectivamente diferente, que tienen un área de grabación para grabar los datos y un área de tabla de contenido de datos para grabar los datos contenidos en el área de grabación, cuyo aparato comprende: - medios de grabación y/o de reproducción para grabar o reproducir en, o de un disco óptico (112) alojado en un cartucho (111) de disco, y que tiene un captador óptico para irradiar un haz de luz hacia el disco óptico (112) alojado en dicho cartucho (111) de disco; - un conmutador de detección (120) en contacto mecánico, durante el uso, con una primera parte (102) de diferenciación que indica la reflectividad de un disco óptico (112) alojado en dicho cartucho (111) de disco cargado en el citado aparato; - medios servo (122, 124) para controlar el foco y la posición del haz de luz radiado desde dicho captador óptico sobre el disco óptico (112) alojado en dicho cartucho(111) de disco; y - un controlador (121) para suministrar la señal de salida procedente de dicho conmutador de detección, y para diferenciar la reflectividad del disco óptico (112) alojado en dicho cartucho (111) de disco, cuyo controlador (121) controla el nivel de salida del haz de luz emitido desde dicho captador óptico de acuerdo con el resultado de la diferenciación, y ajusta la ganancia de los medios servo (122, 124) de acuerdo con dicho resultado de la diferenciación antes de la grabación o reproducción en o del disco óptico (112) alojado en dicho cartucho de disco: caracterizado porque: - los medios de grabación y/o reproducción leen de salida el contenido de datos del disco óptico (112) alojado en dicho cartucho (111) de disco por medio de dicho captador óptico, después de completada la operación de control del haz de luz emitido desde dicho captador óptico, y el ajuste de la potencia del haz de luz se efectúa de acuerdo con el resultado de la diferenciación, de modo que la tabla de datos de control es leída de salida, y la operación de ajuste de la ganancia de dichos medios servo; y porque - dicho controlador diferencia un tipo de disco óptico (112) alojado en dicho cartucho (111) de disco de acuerdo con la lectura de salida del contenido de datos, y controla dichos medios de grabación y/o reproducción de acuerdo con el resultado de la diferenciación del contenido de datos del disco óptico (112) alojado en dicho cartucho (111) de disco.

Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a disc-shaped optical recording medium includes a rotation drive mechanism, a head device, a discriminating device, a first processing device, a second processing device, a third processing device and a controller. A disc-shaped optical recording medium is loaded on the rotation drive mechanism and is run in rotation at a constant linear velocity. The head device includes a laser light source and a photodetector unit and is movable in the radial direction of the disc-shaped optical recording medium for recording/reproducing information signal on or from the disc-shaped optical recording medium. The discriminating device discriminates the type of the disc-shaped optical recording medium loaded on the rotation driving device. The photodetector unit includes first, second and third photodetectors (I, J, 81). The first processing circuit (83a) takes a difference between output signals from the first photodetector and those from the second photodetector. The second processing circuit (82a) takes a sum of output signals from the first photodetector and those from the second photodetector. The third processing circuit (82b-82e, 83c, 83d) generates an error signal based on an output signal from the third photodetector. The controller selectively changes over an output from the first processing circuit to an output from the second processing circuit and vice versa based on a detection output from the discriminating device to produce reproducing signals.

Abstract: A disc cartridge (110) includes a cartridge body (111) having an optical disc (112) rotatably accommodated in the cartridge body (111) and having an aperture (114) radially to expose a part of a signal recording region of the optical disc (112) to outside, a shutter (115) movably mounted on the cartridge body (111) to open or close the aperture (114) of the cartridge body (111), and first and second discriminating sections (101, 102) provided on outer sides of the cartridge body (111) to indicate the type of the optical disc (112) accommodated within the cartridge body (111). The disc cartridge (110) has the first and second discriminating sections (101, 102) set to open or closed states and the type of the disc (112) housed in the cartridge body (111) is discriminated on the basis of the combinations of the states of the first and second discriminating sections (101, 102). A disc recording and/or reproducing apparatus, in which the disc cartridge (110) including these first and second discriminating sections (101, 102) is loaded, includes a detecting unit to detect one of the discriminating sections (101, 102) indicating reflectance of the optical disc (112) and sets an output level of a laser light irradiated on the optical disc (112) based on an output of the detecting unit.
