SOLUTION: A touch pad 2 that a user operates with a thumb F1 is provided on the front 10a of a casing 11 of a remote controller 100, and a battery lid 11 which covers a battery storage section 25 is provided on the back 10b. At an end of the battery lid 11, a finger mount part 23, where an index finger F2 of the user is placed during operation on the remote controller 100, is formed. The finger mount portion 23 is provided, at a position corresponding to a nearly center part of the touch pad 2. Consequently, when the remote controller 100 is used, the thumb F1 becomes stable, at a position opposed to the touch pad 2 and operability is improved.

When the command to be transited to the sound recording mode is received for the reception period, the sound recording and reproducing device 14 is set to the sound recording mode to sound record a message from the telephone set receiving the incoming call. After the end of sound recording, a pager call number is extracted from a memory 31 according to the entered identification code. A call signal is generated by the call number and sent to a telephone line LN to call the corresponding pager.

A finger placing part 23 is formed at the end part of the battery lid 11 so that a user can place the finger. The user can release a lock by pushing up a lock releasing button 12 of the battery lid 11, and after making the battery lid 11 slide to the upper face 10c side, the battery lid 11 can be opened by rotating it to the bottom face 10d side. By this, since the direction of a force which the finger mounting part 23 receives when operating the remote control 100 and the sliding direction of the battery lid 11 are reverse, it is surely prevented that the battery lid 11 falls off against the user's intention when using the remote control 100.
