Abstract:
A novel rewritable optical information recording medium having a recording layer consisting of an organic dye film and capable of reversibly recording/erasing information by laser beam irradiation. A novel rewritable optical information recording medium having as a recording film at least one layer of organic dye film consisting of practically at least one kind of organic dye compound. Information is recorded and erased by reversible physical changes caused by laser beam irradiation on an organic dye film single element. Specifically, data is recorded by a local physical change by recording laser ray irradiation, data is reproduced by detecting the returned optical intensity change of a reproducing laser beam less powerful than a recording laser beam, and data is erased by at least one application of a continuous beam or a pulse beam more powerful than a reproducing laser beam and less powerful than a recording laser beam. A physical change involves a shape change.

Abstract:
A rewritable optical information recording medium including a recording layer composed of an organic dye film is provided, in which recording and erasing information can be performed reversibly by laser light irradiation. A rewritable optical information recording medium including at least one organic dye film which is substantially made of only at least one kind of organic dye compounds as a recording film is provided. The recording and erasure of information are performed by a reversible physical change of the organic dye film substance caused by laser light irradiation. Specifically, data recording is performed by a physical change locally caused by the irradiation of recording laser light, data reproduction is performed by detecting change in intensity of returned light of reproducing laser light having less power than the recording laser light, and data erasure is performed by applying at least once continuous light or pulse light having laser power more than the reproducing laser light and less than the recording laser light. The physical change is a change in shape.
Abstract:
An optical information recording medium includes a recording layer in which a recording mark formed of a cavity is formed in accordance with a light for recording, and which contains therein a compound having a skeleton expressed by the general formula (1): where R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 are either hydrogen atoms or substituents.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an optical recording medium in which two or more information-recording layers are laminated for obtaining a high recording density, and also incidence of light and detection. of return light can be performed with high efficiency relating to an information-recording layer at a position distant from a light-incident side, thus having satisfactory recording and reproduction characteristics; and also provides an optical recording and reproducing method for performing at least recording or reproduction of information using this optical recording medium. The optical recording medium 10 includes a plurality of information-recording layers 21, 22 between one principal plane on which light can be incident and the other principal plane on the side opposite to this one principal plane, or which a first information-recording layer 21 nearest to the other principal plane is made to be a phase-modulation type information-recording layer and the other information-recording layer 22 is made to be a reflectance-modulation type information-recording layer. In this optical recording medium 10; recording or reproduction of information relating to the first information-recording layer 21 is performed by phase-modulation method and recording or reproduction of information relating to the other information-recording layer 22 is performed by reflectance-modulation method.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Without drastically modifying the specifications of information recorded on a disc-shaped optical recording medium which has been processed conventionally by a dedicated player, the disc-shaped optical recording medium can limit reproduction by a disc drive belonging to a computer and prevent unauthorize d copying. A deformed pit string containing a special wobble and shift of a pi t string of an information track is provided as a read out limit area. In this read out limit area, during a low-speed rotation of the disc-shaped optical recording medium, follow-up is possible by optical pickup tracking control a nd it is possible to reproduce properly. However, during a high-speed rotation of the disc-shaped optical recording medium, it is impossible to perform follow - up by the optical pickup tracking control to perform reproduction.
Abstract:
A disc-shaped optical recording medium which prevents unauthorized copy to protect a digital content and a reproduction limit method thereof. There is provided a CD that can be reproduced by an ordinary audio CD player but cann ot be read out by high-speed reproduction of a CD-ROM drive belonging to a computer. The CD (10) has a clam hole (14) formed at a position shifted from the center position with respect to the outer diameter of a disc substrate (12), so that the center of gravity of the disc substrate (12) is located at a position shifted from a rotation center of the clamp hole by a predetermined amount. Moreover, paint (16) is applied as an eccentric load to the label surface (10A) of the CD (10). Since the center of gravity and the rotation center of the CD (10) are eccentric, although it is possible to maintain stable rotation not affected by eccentricity at a low rotation speed, during a high-speed rotation, it is impossible to maintain stable rotation, disabling reproduction, which prevents unauthorized copy and protects a digital conten t.
