An electrolyte remaining in the phosphor layer (2) after the phosphor layer (2) is moistened by the covering water has a conductivity of 6.0+/-4.0 ms/cm in 200 ml of pure water of 20 DEG C+/-1 DEG C.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve adhesiveness of an electrode to an insulation plate while improving an adhesiveness of an under layer to a insulating substrate by forming at least a part of the under layer through a silane coupling agent on the insulating substrate. SOLUTION: In an under layer film forming step, the under layer film 20 is formed on the entire surface of a transparent insulation substrate 11 of a glass substrate or the like. This under layer film 20 is formed by drying an under layer paint after applying the under layer paint comprising a silane coupling agent, powder glass, a ceramic filler, a binder and a solvent. Here, the silane coupling agent is expressed by the formula: (RO)3SiR and improves adhesiveness between the under layer film 20 and the transparent insulation substrate 11. Then, in a step of an electrode film formation, the electrode film 21 is formed on the entire surface of under layer film 20, which is formed on the entire surface of the transparent substrate 11. By incorporating the silane coupling agent in the under layer film 20 thus, adhesive strength with the binder and the transparent insulation substrate 11 in the layer 20 is improved.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the manufacture yield by setting nearly the same print conditions for barrier ribs between an effective and an ineffective screen area and making it easy to form the barrier ribs. SOLUTION: A base pattern 16 is printed on substrate glass 4 and nickel paste is printed in layers on the base pattern 16 to form a discharge electrode 5. Cover glass 19 is printed at both the end parts of the discharge electrode 5 and their prolongations. On the discharge electrode 5 and cover glass 19, glass paste with which ceramic of alumina, etc., is mixed is laminated and printed several times by a screen printing method to form the barrier ribs 7. Those barrier ribs 7 are not formed directly on the substrate glass 4, so the printability is superior.

The temperature of the glass bulb 10 is preferably higher than that of the trimming pure water at least before a condensed water filling process.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To make it possible to repair the defect of a barrier rib which occurs in the process of production by printing the surface of the barrier rib having the defect with paste for correction by using a screen specified in the thickness of a member for masking. CONSTITUTION: The paste prepd. by dispersing leaded glass powder and cellulosic resin into an org. solvent is laminated plural times on a glass substrate 7 via apertures of meshes 25 exposed in the printing image parts 24 of the screen 20, by which the striped barrier ribs 10b are formed. The defective part 11 based on the clogging of the meshes 25 occurs in some cases at the time of forming the ribs. The surface of the barrier rib where the defect part 11 occurs is thereupon printed with the paste for repair by using the screen of 30 to 100μm in the thickness of the member for masking. At this time, the paste having the viscosity lower than the viscosity of the paste used at the time of forming the barrier ribs 10b is used as the paste 36 for repair and the width (w) of the printing image parts 24 of the screen 20 is preferably wider by 5Oμm than the width W of the barrier ribs 10b.
