Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film scanner automatically recording all frames of image data recorded on a photo negative film onto a recording medium automatically, quickly and surely. SOLUTION: A drive means 41 reciprocatingly moving a carrier base 20 with a film carrier 80 removably fitted thereto with respect to a chassis 14 is provided with a rack 38 provided to the carrier base 20, a motor 43 fitted to the chassis via a mount plate 42, a pinion 48 meshing with a drive gear 43a of a motor 43 via a reduction gear 46, and a tensile coil spring 49 energizing the pinion 48 in press contact onto the rack 38. A backlash between the rack 38 and the pinion 58 is reduced to the utmost by the tensile coil spring 49, and the carrier base 20 with the film carrier 80 fitted thereto is moved reciprocatingly with high accuracy to a solid-state image pickup element line sensor.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film scanner automatically recording image data of all frames recorded on a photo negative film onto a recording medium quickly and surely. SOLUTION: A positioning means 31 positioning a film carrier 80 onto a carrier base 20 is provided with a couple of engagement grooves 31a engaging a couple of positioning pins 152 of the film carrier 80 and with a lock mechanism 40 locking the engagement state. The lock mechanism 40 is provided with a cam follower 34 of the carrier base 20, a lock cam provided in the film carrier 80 and fitted/removed to/from the cam follower 34, a lock lever provided in the film carrier 80 and locking the lock cam to the cam follower 34, and a pin 161 provided in the film carrier 80 to lock the lock lever or releasing the lock state.
