Abstract: An objective lens driving biaxial actuator for driving an objective lens in both a focusing direction and a tracking direction with respect to a recording medium comprises: a movable portion (20) for holding the objective lens; an elastic member (28) having its one end attached to the movable portion for supporting the movable portion movably; a stationary portion fixing the other end of the elastic member; and a balancer (B) disposed at the side of the stationary portion with respect to the objective lens and carried on the movable portion at such a distance that its clearance from the stationary portion may restrict the deformation of the elastic member within an elastic limit. A hinge (32) interposed between the elastic member and the movable portion permits movement of the objective lens in the tracking direction.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve impact resistance and to enhance reliability by setting an interval between a balancer attached to a movable part holding an objective lens and balancing the weight balance and a fixed part at a value within the elastic limit of deformation in an elastic member attached between the movable part and the fixed part. CONSTITUTION:A focus operating leaf spring 28 and a tracking operating hinge 32 are provided between the movable part 20 and the fixed part 22. The weight balance with the objective lens L is balanced by the balancer B. The curved surface part 50 is constituted so as to hold the interval with a stopper 38 to a fixed value even when the movable part is turned along the direction of tracking TR. When the impact in the direction of the arrow X is applied, though the movable part 20 is started to move downward for the fixed part 22, the force is generated in the focus operating leaf spring 28, and the curved surface part 50 of the balancer B is lowered and abutted on the stopper 38. Since the moving distance of the movable part 20 is set at the value within the elastic limit decided by the quality of the material and the shape, etc., of the focus operating leaf spring 28, no buckling occurs in the focus operating leaf spring 28.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To securely hold an objective lens by providing a groove enclosing an objective lens to the lens holding member and applying an adhesive thereto. CONSTITUTION:This optical pickup holds the objective lens 10 with the objective lens holding member 20. The member 20 is constituted by forming a rib 20a at its top end face so as to enclose the outer periphery of the lens 10 and forming a wall surface so as to enclose the ring 10. The groove opening on the upper side is formed by the outer periphery and wall surface of the lens 10 and the adhesive is applied to this groove. Since the groove opens to the upper side, the outflow of the adhesive is prevented even if a large amt. of the adhesive is applied. The lens 10 is thus securely held. The rib 20a is formed along the outside shape of the member 20, by which the coated amt. of the adhesive is increased. Since the member 20 is integrally formed, the constitution over the entire surface is simplified. The secure holding of the lens 10 is thus possible.
