Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the wear of a reel base, to prevent stick slip and to stabilize tape traveling by forming a string in a tape tension adjusting mechanism with belt-like material and bringing the string into contact with a reel base slidably and planely. CONSTITUTION:The string 4 is formed in the belt-like shape of prescribed width by plate work in a tape tension adjusting mechanism 1 which is constituted so that the string 4 is pressed to the guiding groove of the reel base 2 and the tension of a magnetic tape T is held constant. Thus, the string 4 is slidably and planely brought into contact with the reel base 2 formed of synthetic resin, and the wear of the reel base 2 is decreased, and simultaneously, the coefficient of friction is increased, then the change of braking force preventing the stick slip is suppressed. Consequently, the traveling of the tape is stabilized for a long time.

A cleaning roller which cleans the magnetic head 4 is composed of an elastic cylindrical roller 300 and a polishing material 200 covering the circumference of the roller 300.
