Abstract:
TO DETERMINE WHETHER A RECORD MEDIUM LOADED TO A DRIVE HAS CHARACTER INFORMATION IN A MANAGEMENT AREA (103) OF THE RECORD MEDIUM CORRESPONDING TO DATA RECEIVED FROM THE DRIVE AND OBTAIN THE CHARACTER INFORMATION WHEN THE RECORD MEDIUM HAS THE CHARACTER INFORMATION AS THE DETERMINED RESULT.A SYSTEM INCLUDES AN OPTICAL DISC DRIVE (13) AND A HOST COMPUTER 53 ARE CONNECTED THROUGH AN INTERFACE (42) . WHEREIN THE DRIVE HAS A SERVO AND SIGNAL PROCESSING PORTION (30), A SYSTEM CONTROLLER 41, AND A CD-ROM SIGNAL PROCESSING PORTION (50) THE SERVO AND SIGNAL PROCESSING PORTION 30 REPRODUCES DATA FROM A DISC (21). THE SYSTEM CONTROLLER (41) CONTROLS THE ENTIRE OPERATION OF THE DRIVE. RETURN DATA IS SENT FROM THE DRIVE TO THE HOST COMPUTER (53) CORRESPONDING TO A READ TABLE OF CONTENTS (TOC) COMMAND RECEIVED FROM THE HOST COMPUTER (53). A CODE THAT REPRESENTS THE DATA LENGTH IS CONTAINED IN A HEADER OF THE RETURN DATA.WITH THE CODE,IT IS DETERMINED WHETHER OR NOT THE DISC (21) IS A CD-TEXT DISC. WHEN THE DISC IS A CD-TEXT DISC AS THE DETERMINED RESULT, THE READ TOC COMMAND IS RE-ISSUED. THUS, CD-TEXT DATA IS OBTAINED.FIG. 1
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To virtually form a file system even when the DVD-RW of an intermediate state in which no file system is recorded is loaded. SOLUTION: In a DVD recorder, access control is executed by a driver layer 41, a UDF file system layer 42 for reading/writing data in a DVD-RW by referring to a file system, and a database layer 43 for accessing the UDF file system layer by referring to contents management information for managing contents stored in the DVD-RW. In the database layer 43, TMP_VMGI being the management information of an intermediate state is read from the DVD-RW, and a file system is temporarily recorded in the UDF file system layer 42 by referring to information therein. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To present content data in a method that differs from normal reproduction to a user by utilizing a chapter. SOLUTION: A chapter display screen 231 has a moving picture display area 251 for repeatedly displaying a moving picture in a section selected by a user in each section divided by a chapter in content data in which chapter display is instructed; a thumbnail image display area 252 for displaying a thumbnail image corresponding to a chapter before and after a section in which moving pictures are displayed in the moving picture display area 251; a chapter-related information display area 253 for displaying information related to a chapter set at the start of a section selected by the user; a toolbar 261 for receiving the operation input by the user; and a menu display button 262 for displaying a prescribed option menu window, which can be applied to a recording/reproducing device. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire data when a loaded record medium includes character information in a magnagement area by judging whether or not the medium includes the character information based on the data to be transferred from a drive. SOLUTION: An optical disk drive and a host computer 53 are connected to each other via an interface 42. The drive is provided with a servo signal processing part 30 for reproducing the data from a disk 21, a system controller 42 for controlling the whole of the drive and a signal processing part 50 for CD-ROM. Return data are transferred from the drive to the computer 53 by responding to a read command from the host computer 53. Whether the disk 21 is a CD-TEXT disk or not is judged based on a code expressing a data length included in the header of the return data, and when the disk 21 is the CD-TEXT disk, a read command is reissued and CD-TEXT data are acquired.
