    Abstract: An optical head having an objective lens with a high numerical aperture of 0.8 or more comprising, in order to correct a spherical aberration due to the manufacture errors of an optical recording medium and a lens, to correct a chromatic aberration sufficiently even when a short-wave semiconductor laser is used, and to correct an aberration which is caused when an identical optical system is used for beams of different wavelengths: a light source; an objective lens (20) composed of two or more lenses and having a numerical aperture of 0.80 or more; and an aberration correcting lens group 1 arranged between those light sources and objective lens (20) and composed of a positive lens group (3) and a negative lens group (2). The aberration correcting lens group (1) corrects the spherical aberration to be caused on the individual optical faces of the optical system by making variable the distance between the positive lens group (3) and the negative lens group (2) in the optical axis direction.
