Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat cathode-ray tube that can make projected images easy to see, and to provide an image display device using it. SOLUTION: In front of a front panel 12, an extinction film 17 which has an extinction function is stuck. Even if external light is emitted into the front panel 12, quantity of the light is reduced by the extinction film 17 at its incidence into the front panel 12 and at the reflection from a fluorescent-substance layer 14. Although the original image light is also reduced by the extinction film 17, the extinction quantity is relatively smaller than in the case of external light R, and resultantly, the images observed become clearer than in the conventional case.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve luminance in a high current density area and yellowing in a fluorescent screen by rotatingly appling a phosphor slurry 12 having phosphor/slurry weight ratio of 14.0-30.0 on the inner surface of a panel, and forming thereon a lacquer film and a metallized film, thereby a fluorescent screen is formed. CONSTITUTION:A phosphor slurry 12 having phosphor/binder ratio in weight of 14.0-30.0 is rotatingly applied on the inner surface of a panel 1 and is exposed and developed thereafter to form a phosphor layer, while a lacquer film is formed on the phosphor layer and a metallized layer is formed on the lacquer film. Consequently, the phosphor charge ratio in the phosphor layer increses in a fluorescent screen to improve the density of the phosphor layer, while the mirror condition in the metallized layer is improved, resulting in that phosphor emission energy can be taken out effectively in the front face of the panel and heat generated at the fluorescent screen can be discharged efficiently to the panel face. It is thus possible to improve luminance and yellowing characteristics in a cathode-ray tube used in a so-called high current density area in a projector or the like.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to correctly appraise success or failure of a three-color phosphor application method in a short time by forming a sample panel and a reference panel while measuring the respective luminous chromaticity with a chromaticity meter. CONSTITUTION:A panel 6, to which carbon C is applied except the part whereto green phosphor is to be applied, is formed while forming a reference panel 8 wherein only the green phosphor G is applied to said panel 6 and a sample panel 7 wherein the green, blue and red color phosphors G, B and R are by turns applied to said panel 6. The ultraviolet rays 9 are radiated from inside on said panels 8 and 7 for radiating in order to measure chromaticity with a chromaticity meter 10 arranged on the outside while comparing the respective chromaticity for measuring the amounts of fog of the blue and red color phosphors B and R and appraising success or failure of an application method with relation to three-color phosphors.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable light to be accurately irradiated upon a phosphor stripe by placing a slit member, which has a slit width narrower than the emission length of a linear light source, in front of the light source and determining the position of the light source by rotating or/and moving the light source according to the position shift of optical irradiation. CONSTITUTION:In front of a light source 11, a slit 12 having a slit width (l) smaller than the emission length (L) of the light source 11, is placed at a given distance apart from the light source 11. Light 21 emitted by the light source 11 is irradiated upon the inner surface of a panel after being transmitted by a Wratten filter 18 and a correction lens 16. During this irradiation, since light with wavelengths of at most 440nm is cut off by the Wratten filter 18, thereby is no possibility that a phosphor slurry 20 is exposed to light. Next, after the linear light source 11 is moved in the direction of the Z axis or the y axis and then rotated until the outputs of photodetectors 19 become maximum levels, the Wratten filter 18 is removed and then the inner surface of the panel is exposed to light. By the means mentioned above, it is possible to irradiate light accurately upon a phosphor stripe.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a color regenerated image with excellent picture quality by appling fluorescent materials for a light pen pickup without blushes to the fluorescent materials of respective colors by the aid of specified dyes used in dyeing. CONSTITUTION:Respective fluorescent materials R, G and B of red, green and blue are arranged and formed with given patterns, for example, retaining given distances in a stripe state, respectively, and given repeat orders, and next, are dyed by the dye DIRECT RED 227 of diazo series. And thereafter, the sensitive slurry 11 which is mixed with the fluorescent materials for a light pen pickup is entirely applied in the panel 10 and the irradiation by ultraviolet rays UV is carried out to achieve its exposure hardening from the outer surface of the panel 10. Next, to the slurry 11, a processing of development is carried out to eliminate unexposed portions by means of pure water. When carrying out such processings, the fluorescent materials D for the light pen pickup is ensurely and selectively adhered between the fluorescent materials R, G and B, and blushes are not caused.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning system, a projection device and a scanner having a simple mechanism, made small in size, inexpensive and reliable and performing projection with excellent controllability.
SOLUTION: The scanner 7 where an A surface 8a and a B surface 8b having a boundary at the center 7a of a rocking shaft form the angle of 2 reflected by the PLV1 when voltage is applied is reflected on the A surface 8a of the scanner 7 so as to be guided to the screen 31, and light L
2 ' reflected by the PLV1 when the voltage is not applied is made incident on the B surface 8b of the scanner 7 so that an optical path may be changed to other direction. Therefore, the scanner 7 has both a scanning function and a light quantity control function in a projection system, and realizes simplification and miniaturization, then the inexpensive projection device excellent in the controllability is constituted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type cathode-ray tube excellent in optical properties and durability by improving cooling effect, and enabling efficient manufacturing at low cost. SOLUTION: A thickness of a panel 11 of a cathode-ray tube body 10 is uniformly formed excluding a periphery edge part 11d which is an adhering surface to a coupler (cooling liquid holding body) 21. A cooling effect by a cooling mechanism 20 on the panel 11 is uniform on the entire surface. Therefore, optical properties and durability of the panel 11 are improved. In a manufacturing process of heating the panel 11, a temperature difference is not generated if a cooling temperature of the panel 11 is decreased and cooling time is reduced, thereby uniform cooling can be achieved. Because a part of the panel 11 excluding the periphery edge part 11d forms a recessed curved surface part 11e, to improve adhesion, only the periphery edge part 11d, which is adhered to the edge of an opening 21a on the back side of the coupler 21, is to be polished, thereby a polishing time can be made short.
