A control CPU (79) monitors the input from an optical digital input interface (72) to check that the optical digital input interface (72) is connected with an optical cable. The CPU (79) checks for an ACK signal in an IEEE1394 interface (71) to determine whether the IEEE1394 interface is connected with another device. The data input from IEEE1394 interface (71) is preferentially stored in a disk (76) according to the result of determination.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the output volume of a digital voice output device connected to an information processor for use by the information processor. SOLUTION: An incorporated control part 155 executing EC firmware acquires a switch volume signal from a sound volume switch 193 of APR, and acquires system sound volume data from a utility program. The control part 155 calculates the sound volume gain of a digital amplifier 191 of the APR based on the volume switch signal and the system sound volume data, and supplies them to the digital amplifier 191. SOLUTION: A polling control part 221 acquires illuminance data from an optical sensor; a utility calculates a luminance value based on the acquired illuminance data; and an inverter illuminance control part 215 converts the calculated illuminance value into an output value to be set to an inverter, and stores the converted output value as a target value. Moreover, the inverter illuminance control part 215 makes a comparison between the present value to be set to the inverter at present, and calculates the output value based on the result of the comparison, and the screen luminance is made smoothly adjustable by setting the calculated output value to the inverter. SOLUTION: It is judged, for example, whether a digital broadcasting receiver connected to a recording/reproducing device corresponds to a multi-program recording system. In the case of corresponding to the multi-program recording system, a recording medium is reproduced as it is to output a transport stream recorded in a recording medium to an IRD. In the case of not corresponding to the multi-program recording system and reproducing the recording medium recorded in the multi-program system, a user selects a desired program and the transport stream of only the selected program is transmitted to the IRD through an IEEE 1394.
