    Abstract: SDDI signals sent from a hybrid recorder (20) having a on-line editing function and corresponding to AV signals are selectively recorded on an MO disk (6) of a portable AV editing device (1). The user carries the device (1) separated from the recorder (20). The user performs off-line edition by using the SDDI signals recorded on the disk (6) to generate an EDL (Edit Decision List). The EDL is transmitted, for example, to a station from the spot and on-line edition is performed at the station by using the EDL. An SDDI signal in accordance with an AV signal is selectively recorded in an MO disc 6 of a portable AV editing apparatus 1 from a hybrid recorder 20 provided with an on-line editing function. The user carries the portable AV editing apparatus 1 around separate from the hybrid recorder 20 and uses the SDDI signal recorded in the MO disc 6 to perform off-line editing and prepare an EDL (edit decision list). This EDL is transmitted from the field to the station. The EDL is used for on-line editing at the station.

    Abstract: An off-line editing method in an editing system. The system comprising: a video camera; a hybrid recorder (20); and a portable editing apparatus (1). In the method video data is recorded to the recorder, the recorded video data is compressed and recorded in compressed form (SDDI) to a magneto-optical disk type recording means (6) belonging to the editing apparatus. The editing apparatus is then operated to generate an EDL (edit decision list). This EDL may either be transmitted from the field to a base station through a transmission apparatus or simply to the hybrid recorder. The EDL may then be used for on-line editing at the base station or the hybrid recorder respectively. When the hybrid recorder is used for on-line editing, the recorded video data is reproduced and displayed on the monitor of the editing apparatus and the editing apparatus is operated to designate edit points as the video data is recorded in its final edited form.

    Abstract: An editing control apparatus (100) for use with first and second video tape recording and/or reproducing apparatuses (1,2), each employing a video tape having time code signals and control signals recorded thereon and which is advanced at a predetermined forward speed for recording and reproducing a video signal thereon, comprises first and second time code readers (7R, 7P) for reading the time code signals on the video tapes, first and second control signal readers (6R,6P) for reading the control signals on the video tapes, and a control unit (3, 5) for controlling the video tape recording and/or reproducing apparatuses (1,2) in response to the time code signals and the control signals to position the video tapes at respective preroll points by rewinding each of the video tapes at a first speed substantially greater than the predetermined forward speed to first predetermined points, and thereafter rewinding the respective video tapes at a second speed substantially less than the forward speed to the respective preroll points.
