    Abstract: A magnetic alloy which contains not less than 0.03 weight percent but not more than 5.0 weight percent of P, not less than 0.01 weight percent but not more than 5.0 weight percent of at least one element of Ti, Nb, and Zr, not less than 2.5 weight percent but not more than 10 weight percent Si and the remaining part consisting mainly of Fe is disclosed. In the alloy, P is segregated on the grain boundaries thereof with a specified amount which results in a superior magnetic characteristics and workability represented by the fact that the alloy can be rolled.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simultaneously enhance the magnetic characteristics and malleability of ferrosilicon for an electrical sheet as a magnetic core material by increasing the Si content of the ferrosilicon and adding P and one or more kinds among Ti, Nb and Zr. CONSTITUTION:The Si content of ferrosilicon for an electrical sheet as a magnetic core material for a power generator, a transformer, etc. is increased to 2.5-10% to obtain an electrical sheet with superior characteristics such as high permeability, low iron loss and high electric resistance. In order to prevent the rolling of the ferrosilicon from being made difficult owing to deteriorated malleability resulting from the increased Si content, to the ferrosilicon are added 0.03-5.0wt% P and 0.01-5.0% at least one of Ti, Nb and Zr or further added 0.01-10.0% one or more kinds among Cr, Mn, Ni and other metallic elements. At least >=0.5% of the P is segregated on the grain boundaries of the ferrosilicon to make the grains fine and the boundaries firm, thereby enabling the rolling.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To strengthen the grain boundary of a Fe-Al-Si type magnetic alloy and enhance the workability thereof by allowing a specified amt. or more of P to exist at the boundary of the alloy. CONSTITUTION:Raw material consisting of, by wt., P 0.03-5%, Al+Si 3.0- 26.0% (Al 0.01-13.0% and Si 0.01-13.0%) and the balance Fe is melted and cast to allow P to exist at the grain boundary in an amt. of 0.5% or more of the amt. of boundary composing atoms. The Fe in the material may be replaced with 0.01-10% in total of one or more out of Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Ge, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, W, a rare earth element, B, Ca, C, N, Sn, Sb, Pb and Be. The casting is then slowly cooled or annealed, cut into a plate, hot rolled, cold rolled, and heat treated in a H2 atmosphere as usual to improve the magnetic characteristics of the resulting alloy.
