Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique obtained by associating a near video on demand (NVOD) and a personal video recorder. SOLUTION: Contents distributed nearly on demand in an overlapping stream starting with a deviated interval via different channels are reproduced on demand to a user using a storage system in connection with a receiver. A part of contents corresponding to the deviated interval of various kinds of streams is pre-cached and used for reproduction when the user starts reproduction on demand. Contents from a stream started most recently at the start of reproduction is buffered, and reproduction is switched from the pre-cached contents to the buffered contents at a previously selected registered position.
