Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for dynamically changing priority of memory request for accessing a memory device in a disk drive system. SOLUTION: The disk drive system includes a processing element which executes various operations and a hard disk controller having a buffer which provides an interface for the memory device such as a random access memory or the like. The buffer has an arbitration block that assigns priorities to memory requests for accessing the memory device. A priority modification block is provided to allow modification of assigned priority so that the priority assigned to the pending memory request issued by the processing element can be increased. The priority modification block triggers modification of priority at the occurrence of events such as receiving of interrupt by the processing element, or time-put or the like of memory request issued by the processing element.
