Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line driver that has a self-tuning type output impedance and the is provided with a hybrid applicable to a communication unit where transmission and reception are simultaneously performed through the same transmission line and that can be operated in an efficient mode. SOLUTION: Each pre-driver receives a driver input signal and outputs a buffer input signal and a DC offset compensation signal. A balanced bridge hybrid is connected between a buffer output terminal and an internal node. A regulation circuit generates a regulation signal to process a hybrid output during a training mode period and to apply the processed hybrid output to an adjustable current source in each buffer. By controlling the adjustable current source with the regulation signal, the output impedance of the buffer can be made to match the characteristic impedance of a transmission line connected to the transformer secondary coil.

SOLUTION: A pair of buffers are connected to a primary coil of a transformer in a push-pull configuration, and a couple of pre-drivers are connected to the pair of the buffers. Each buffer receives a flyback compensation signal generated from the other of the pre-drivers and the buffer using the flyback compensation signal is in operation to cancel a flyback voltage effect induced in the buffer by a line driver signal applied to the primary coil.

SOLUTION: A pair of buffers are connected to the primary coil of a transformer in push-pull circuit, and a pair of pre-drivers are connected to the pair of buffers. A control circuit outputs a control signal to a controllable current source. The controllable current source is regulated by this control signal, and the output impedance of the buffer can be matched with the characteristic impedance of the transmission line connected to the secondary coil of the transformer.

An adjustment signal is applied to an adjustable current source which causes the output impedance of the buffer to match the characteristic impedance of a transmission line connected to the secondary.

Abstract: A pair of equivalent, controlled impedance buffers are connected, in a push-pull configuration, to a transformer primary. A pair of equivalent pre-drivers is connected to the buffers. A flyback voltage effect is induced in each buffer, due to the line driver applied to the primary by the other buffer. Each buffer further receives the flyback compensation, generated from the other one of the pre-drivers, with the buffer operating to cancel the flyback voltage effect induced in that buffer by the line driver applied to the primary coil by the other buffer, using the flyback compensation received from the other of the pre-drivers.
