Abstract: Tape consisting of a support of ultra high molecular polyethylene having a high modulus and low thickness, and a coating of a polyether-urethane resin. The support used is prepared by thermoreversible gelation from a solution of the polyethylene followed by stretching and adhesion improving treatment. The tapes obtained are suitable as a magnetic tape, e.g. in audio, video or computer applications.

Abstract: A process for producing an elongated object of an alternating copolymer of carbon monoxide and an olefinically unsaturated monomer wherein the copolymer has an intrinsic viscosity measured in m-cresol at 100 DEG C. of at least 1 dl/g, involve converting a solution of the copolymer into a solvent-containing object, removing between 90 and 99.9% of the solvent from the solvent-containing object, and stretching the thus obtained object at a temperature below the melting point of the copolymer.

Abstract: High modulus and high strength articles of polyvinyl-alcohol are obtained by thermoreversible gelation of a 5-50 wt.% solution of a polyvinylalcohol with an M w of 2.5 × 10⁴ to 5 × 10⁵ in water, followed by solvent removal and high stretching.Pref. gelation is obtained by cooling to a temperature of at least 40 ◊C below the gelation temperature.With this process low costs of solvent removal and regeneration are obtained.
