Abstract: The sparger (10) comprises a conduit (14), one or more side tubes (16) and one or more nozzles (18). Each nozzle (18) comprises an orifice (52) and shroud (54), as well as insulation covering the shroud (54), and it is important that it should cover the entire length of the shroud (54). The introduction of oxygen is ensured in the fluid bed across at least one insulated nozzle (18) covered by coating (56) of the sparger (10), the oxygen reacting with at least one of the propane and ammonia feeds in the presence of a catalyst for the fluid bed (20). Conduit (14) and side tubes (16) are also covered by insulation and jackets (24 and 40) and together with nozzles (18) are made of metals having high resistance against combustion in oxygen medium.
