Abstract: A self-retained panel fastener assembly comprising a sleeve bolt carried by one workpiece and a barrel nut assembly carried by another workpiece. The sleeve bolt includes a shank having first and second portions interconnected by a groove and which carries a compressible retaining ring slidable along the groove and second shank portion. One end of the retaining ring includes means for aligning the workpieces during assembly of the sleeve bolt to the barrel nut assembly when assembling the joint.
