    Abstract: A herbicidal composition of extended soil life characterised in that it comprises:

    (a) a herbicidally-effective amount of a thiolcarbamate corresponding to the following general formula:
    wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 independently represent C 2 -C 4 alkyl; and
    (b) an amount sufficient to extend the soil life of the thiolcarbamate of an amine or an agriculturally-acceptable salt thereof, the amine corresponding to the following general formula:
    wherein

    R 4 and R S independently represent hydrogen, cyano, C 1 -C 10 alkyl optionally substituted with cyano or hydroxy, C 2 -C 6 alkenyl, C S -C 7 cycloalkyl or phenyl and benzyl both optionally substituted with halogen, cyano, or methoxy; and
    R 6 represents hydrogen or C 2 -C 6 alkenyl; provided that at least one of the groups R 4 , R 5 and R 6 represents other than hydrogen is disclosed.


    A method for controlling undesirable vegetation characterised in that it comprises applying to the locus where the control is desired such a composition or the components thereof is also disclosed.
    A method for extending the soil life of such a thiolcarbamate characterised in that it comprises applying to soil containing the thiolcarbamate or to which the thiolcarbamate is to be applied an effective amount of such an amine is further disclosed.
