Abstract: METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING WIDTH AND THICKNESS OF STRIP Width and thickness of a hot-rolled and descaled strip are controlled by performing, in a line in which the strip runs, a rough control step for reducing correction of the width and the thickness of the strip in only the longitudinal ends thereof and a fine control step for reducing correction of the width and the thickness of the strip over the entire length thereof, respectively at least one time, so that the desired width and thickness of the strip are obtained in the last reduction.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a clean, cold-rolled metal strip. The method of the invention consists in injecting a lubricating rolling emulsion at a high pressure and at a low concentration on both sides of a metal strip 11 in the last stand 5 of a rolling mill by means of injector nozzles 10 in order thus to remove the oil and the metallic powder deposited on the said strip, then in loading the reeled cold-rolled strip into a box annealing furnace, in mixing water vapour with an atmospheric gas of the annealing furnace consisting principally of nitrogen and hydrogen and in adjusting the dew point of the gas inside the furnace between 0 and 10 DEG C. The present invention applies particularly to the field of metal rolling.
