Abstract: A pressure screen for separating a liquid mixture is disclosed, comprising a screen housing forming a cylindrical screen chamber, and an inlet housing directly connected to the screen housing and forming a cylindrical inlet chamber, the diameter of which is less than the diameter of the screen chamber. An inlet member is positioned on the inlet chamber for supplying a suspension to be separated substantially tangentially into the inlet chamber and an outlet member is positioned on the inlet chamber for discharging coarse contaminants from the inlet chamber, whereby the scrap particles are prevented from entering the screen chamber.

The disclosed apparatus includes a distribution housing including an inlet for the conduit and an outlet for the surface so as to form a uniformly distributed medium thereon, the distribution housing including a first distribution chamber substantially transverse to the conduit and diverging from the inlet to a substantially curved surface, a second distribution chamber extending from the substantially curved surface in a direction opposite that of the first distribution chamber, and a passage associated with the substantially curved surface for deflecting the flowing medium between the first distribution chamber and the second distribution chamber so as to provide a substantially uniformly distributed parallel flow of the flowing medium onto the surface.

Abstract: A method and a device for achieving uniform transverse distribution and spreading of a flowing medium, such as liquids, gases, foam or mixtures of different types of material. The device comprises a distribution housing (1) with a wide outlet opening (2) and line (3) for the medium feed. In a distribution chamber (5) the medium flow is deflected while being spread in lateral direction to a transversely curved passage (8) where the medium flow again is deflected to an outlet chamber (6). In this outlet chamber (6), which extends to the outlet opening (2), an outgoing substantially uniformly distributed and parallel flow is obtained.
