Abstract: PURPOSE: To generate light beams for scanning at a high speed with a bar code scanner without a moving part and to improve the read precision and efficiency. CONSTITUTION: Arrangement 10 where laser diodes or LED 11 which are sequentially started one by one are linearly arranged is used. Optical output from the arrangement 10 is image-formed on a line 13 on a focus face by using an appropriate lens system, and the video of the arrangement 10 crosses the focus face and appears as the line 13 for scanning. A bar code mark 14 is scanned by the line 13. Since moving parts do not exist in the scanning device, scanning speed can be speeded up compared to a machine type rocking mirror. Relevance is given to data signals by using appropriate algorithm and the precision of decoding can be improved.
