Abstract:
Provided are a method and apparatus for indicating service variation in a Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. A network entity aggregates information about a first service that can be provided by a current network and information about a second service of associated another network in order to generate service variation information indicating whether at least one of a language, a subtitle, and a camera angle of the second service is changed when compared to the first service, and transmits the service variation information to a terminal in the current network over a broadcasting network or an interactive network. The terminal can determine whether to receive the second service continuously from the first service from the other network using the service variation information.
Abstract:
A method for providing a broadcast service to a terminal by a network in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. The method includes generating Program Specific Information/Service Information (PSI/SI) indicative of information related to a broadcast service requested by the terminal; generating mapping information for information on the broadcast service in an Internet Protocol (IP) platform from which the terminal is currently receiving the broadcast service, and for information on a broadcast service corresponding to the broadcast service in IP platforms other than the IP platform; and including the generated mapping information in an IP/Medium Access Control (MAC) Information Notification Table (INT) of the PSI/SI, and delivering the INT to the terminal.
Abstract:
A method of providing discovery information of an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) bootstrap entry point is provided. The method includes listing at least one piece of ESG bootstrap characteristic information for an ESG bootstrap proper for a status of a terminal, creating a Management Object (MO), which connects the ESG bootstrap entry point with said at least one piece of ESG bootstrap characteristic information and transmitting the created MO to the terminal through an interactive channel.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) in a Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system is provided. A delivery path of ESG data is parsed. A first information element indicating transmission of a broadcast ESG when the ESG data can be delivered over a broadcast network is set. A second information element indicating transmission of a Point-to-Point (PTP) ESG for a terminal or a terminal group when the ESG data can be delivered over an interactive network in a PTP bearer is set. ESG delivery information is transmitted including at least one of the first and second information elements, to at least one terminal over at least one ESG bootstrap session for carrying information necessary for transmission of the ESG data. The broadcast ESG and the PTP ESG are transmitted to the at least one terminal over at least one delivery path out of the broadcast network and the interactive network.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for supporting mobility in a mobile broadcasting system in which Electronic Service Guide (ESG) discovery is required. The mobility support is classified into three ways. The first way is to provide roaming information for a local IPDC operator having a roaming partner among local IPDC operators. In the second way, a terminal transmits a query message for requesting transmission of information on a particular local IPDC operator, and receives information on the particular local IPDC operator in response thereto. The third way is to provide the terminal with type information of an ESG, an access type of which is classified according to provision of a roaming service. The roaming information, the information on the particular local IPDC operator and the type information of the ESG, which are provided to the terminal from the mobile broadcasting system, can be provided in an ESG bootstrap level.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for supporting smooth and seamless handover of a terminal receiving digital broadcasting in a digital broadcasting system. A handover method by a network node includes the steps of receiving a handover proposal message from a terminal, the handover proposal message containing a time for signal quality evaluation, a service ID, and a cell ID, the terminal receiving a broadcasting service from a serving cell; evaluating signal qualities of candidate cells providing a service corresponding to the service ID; calculating a handover candidate parameter based on a result of evaluation of the signal qualities of the candidate cells, the handover candidate parameter indicating time available for handover with regard to respective candidate cells; and transmitting the handover candidate parameter to the terminal.
