Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head whereby an amount of a magnetic flux reaching the magnetic sensitive part of an MR element of a longitudinal MR head is increased, influences of a magneto resistance at a contact part are eliminated and a reproducing output of the MR element is enhanced. CONSTITUTION:This is a longitudinal MR inductive head 1 wherein a detection current runs through an MR element 7 in a direction perpendicular to an ABS surface 9. The MR element 7 is arranged within a plane orthogonal to the ABS surface 9 with an inclination of a predetermined angle theta to a perpendicular L extending within the plane and orthogonal to the ABS surface 9. The predetermined angle theta is approximately 45 deg.. Each electrode part 11, 13 is formed at an inclined edge part of the MR element 7. A bias of the MR element 7 is obtained in a current bias method. A feeding part for the bias current and the MR element 7 are connected in series, and either contact part of the feeding part and the MR element 7 is disposed in the vicinity of the ABS surface 9.

CONSTITUTION:A lower-layer core 2 and an upper-layer core 5 comprising permalloy are formed on a substrate 1 through a gap spacer 3. Spiral coil conductors 4 and 6 are provided so as to surround a back gap part BG in this thin-film head. The amounts of the contents of Fe in the composition of the permalloy are different. The amount of the content in the back gap part BG is 17.5-18.5 atomic %, and that in a front gap part FG is 16.5-17.5 atomic %.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To miniaturize a device, to make its weight light, and to shorten a manufacturing process by connecting conductive film for thin film element to an outside draw-out lead wire via a plane perpendicular to the thin film element forming plane of a terminal part also perpendicular to a floating plane. CONSTITUTION:The area of the thin film element forming plane can be reduced and the miniaturization of a substrate (floating slider) 13 can be attained since the terminal part 16 occupying the area is formed with a conductor 15 embedded in a recessed part 14 and it is connected to the outside draw-out lead wire 18 on the plane perpendicular to the thin film element forming plane 13A of the terminal part 16 also perpendicular to the floating plane 13C (in other words, the plane of the terminal part facing with a side plane 13B neighboring to the thin film element forming plane 13A), and the miniaturization and light weight of a magnetic head 12 can be attained. Also, since the terminal part 16 can be automatically formed when the conductor 15 is embedded in the recessed part of the substrate and the substrate is cut in slider unit, the manufacturing process of such type of thin film magnetic head can be shortened.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To allow the formation of narrower tracks by providing a frame- shaped body for regulating at least a front magnetic path forming part and forming a front magnetic path part in this frame-shaped body, then forming a coil conductor and a rear magnetic path part. CONSTITUTION:The frame-shaped body 3 which regulates the front magnetic path forming part inclusive at least of the track width is formed on a substrate 1. A lower layer magnetic film 5, a gap material film 7 and an upper layer magnetic film 11 are successively laminated and formed within this frame-shaped body 3 to form the front magnetic path part 13 with which the widths W1 in the track width direction in the magnetic gap part 7 of the lower magnetic film 5 and the upper layer magnetic film 11 are equaled to each other. The coil conductor 19 and the rear magnetic path part 22 connecting to the front magnetic path part 13 are thereafter formed. The upper magnetic film 11 in the magnetic gap part is formed to the same width as the width in the track width direction of the lower magnetic film 5 and, therefore, crosstalks and effective track width are decreased and the formation of the narrower tracks is easily executed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain many reproduced outputs by constituting the thin-film magnetic head which has two back gap parts and is wound plural times with spiral type coils respectively continuously around the two back gap parts. CONSTITUTION:The spiral type coils 4 are wound respectively around the two back gap parts 2a, 2b. The coils 4 are wound in single layer or in multiple layers of >=2 layers. The winding is executed in the direction clockwise from one terminal 5, as shown in Fig. After the coil is wound around the one back gap part 2a toward the inner side thereof, the coil is led out to an external contact point 6 and is further wound this time counterclockwise from the contact point 6 around the other back gap part 2b toward the outer side thereof and is thereafter led out to the other terminal 7. The coils are wound respectively plural times around the two back gap parts 2a, 2b in such a manner and, therefore, the coils are substantially one coil 4 but are flatly two pieces of the coils 4a, 4b. The number of turns of the coil 4 is thus increased double-fold without changing the above-mentioned path length L. The many reproduced outputs are obtd. by meeting the number of the turns.

The other surface (back surface side) 1b of the substrate 1 becomes a thermal recording surface and the rear surface side 1b thereof is formed into a thin inclined surface 1b1 at the part corresponding to the heat generating part 2A of one heat generating resistor pattern 2a and thermal recording paper (p) is allowed to slide with said inclined surface 1b1 to be pressed and held by a platen P to perform thermal recording to the thermal recording paper (p).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion-resisting property of the title magnetically soft thin film by a method wherein Ti or the like is added to the alloy consisting of Fe, Al and Ge as a component element of the magnetically soft thin film. CONSTITUTION:First, the additive elements such as electrolytic iron, electrolytic cobalt, aluminum, germanium, Ti, Zr, Nb, Ta and the like are weighed in such a manner that the prescribed compositional ratio is obtained for them. After they have been dissolved in an argon atmosphere using a high frequency induction heating furnace, the alloy target for sputtering is formed by performing a machine work. Then, using said target, a thin film is formed on a glass substrate using a planar magnetron type RF sputtering device. Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily generate a bipolar magnetic field, to reduce the power consumption and to make overwriting possible by forming a main magnetic pole and a yoke with hard magnetic materials and soft magnetic materials respectively and supplying a pulse current to a winding wound around the main magnetic pole to switch the direction of magnetization. CONSTITUTION:A main magnetic pole 2 is formed with hard magnetic materials, and an anisotropic 'Alnico(R)' alloy or the like is used as them. A winding is wound around the main magnetic pole 2, and the pulse current is applied to the winding 3 only when the direction of magnetization of the main magnetic pole 2 is inverted. A yoke 4 forms a return path of a magnetic flux generated in the main magnetic pole 2 for recording or erasing and is formed with soft magnetic materials like Fe-Ni. A pulse current generating means 5 is provided with a DC power source 7 which can control the inversion of the current direction, a capacitor 8 of charging and discharging, and resistances 9 and 10, and a switch 11 is switched to select charging or discharging of the capacitor 8. In case of discharging of the capacitor 8, the pulse current is generated and flows to the winding 3 to generate a prescribed magnetic field which can invert the direction of magnetization of the main magnetic pole 2.
