Abstract: A target object detection section detects the region of an image of a target object from a frame image captured as a moving image. A contour search section samples the values of pixels in four diagonal directions in a pixel array, using as a start point a pixel of which the corresponding element targets G (green) for observation in the region. The contour search section then detects coordinate point candidates on a contour line of the target object on the basis of changes in luminance Y of the sampled pixels. The contour search section filters the coordinate point candidates based on luminance changes in the color component of the target object. The contour search section causes the distribution of the coordinate points to approximate the contour line. A position information generation section acquires position information regarding the target object in the real space using the gravity center and size of the target object image obtained from the contour line.

Abstract: As a user guide, the state of overlooking a real space including an imaging device and a user is presented by one of two images: an image in reference to the position of the imaging device, or an image in reference to the user's direction. In both images, a rectangle indicative of the imaging device and a circle representative of the user are presented in a manner reflecting the actual positional relations and directions involved. Also presented are an area denoting a play area in the horizontal direction determined by a camera angle of view for example, and an arrow pointing to the direction in which the user is to move.

Abstract: An information processing device extracts an image of a marker from a photographed image, and obtains a position of a representative point of the marker in a three-dimensional space. Meanwhile, a position and an attitude corresponding to a time of photographing the image are estimated on the basis of an output value of a sensor included in a target object. A weight given to positional information of each marker is determined by using a target object model on the basis of the estimation, and positional information of the target object is calculated. Further, final positional information is obtained by synthesizing estimated positional information at a predetermined ratio, and the final positional information is output and fed back for a next estimation.

Abstract: An information processing device includes: a captured image acquiring section that acquires data of an image captured of a target space including a light-emitting marker emitting light in a predetermined color; a score map preparing section that determines, for each of pixels making up the captured image, a score value indicative of the certainty of how likely a target object represented by an image including the pixel is emitting light in the predetermined color on the basis of a pixel value, the score map preparing section further preparing a score map associating the score values with an array of pixels on an image plane; a target region extracting section that extracts from the score map an aggregate of pixels meeting predetermined criteria as a region constituting an image of the light-emitting marker; and a position information generating section that, on the basis of the position of the extracted region, generates and outputs position information about the light-emitting marker in a real space.
