    Abstract: The invention provides systems and methods for provisioning a site with a solar energy system. A system (100) according to an embodiment of the invention comprises a data collection module coupled to a user interface module (200) to receive from a user system (106) location information associated with the geographical location of the roof wherein the data collection module communicates with a source (109) of aerial map images to retrieve at least one map image of the roof based on the location information,
    and provides the retrieved image to the user interface module (200). The user interface module (200) enabes the user to interact with a displayed image of the roof to generate at least one roof dimension measurement for at least a portion of the roof and comprises an interactive, user-adjustable measuring tool (1107, 1117) the dimensions of which are calibrated based on a scale represented by metadata associated with the displayed image of the roof and which is configured to be used to determine the measurement of the roof in response to a user adjustment of the measuring tool (1107, 1117) corresponding to the displayed image. A sizing module (500) including an input for receiving the at least one roof dimension measurement is provided for determining solar system components suitable for installation on the roof based, at least in part, on the received roof dimension measurement.
