Abstract:
An electronic apparatus for producing a wide variety of spectral outputs comprising at least two dissimilar light sources (10, 76), a source of alternating current (260), a means (404) for specifying the desired spectral output, electronic means (390) for varying the alternating current delivered to the first light source to produce a first spectral output, and electronic means (390) for varying the alternating current delivered to the second light source to produce a second spectral output, which when combined with the first spectral output produces an overall light output meeting desired characteristics of illuminance and/or color temperature.
Abstract:
An apparatus for generating a spectral distribution. This apparatus contains a light source (28) and a single filter (200). The single filter is comprised of a color correcting filter (202) material and a neutral density filter (204) material. When the apparatus is adjusted, the spectral distribution of the light which passes through it varies continuously, but the brightness and/or irradiance of such light is substantially constant.
Abstract:
A lamp (10) for producing a spectral distribution which is substantially identical to daylight color temperature. The lamp contains a filament (18) which, when excited by electrical energy, emits radiant energy at least within the visible spectrum with wavelengths from about 400 to about 700 nanometers, a reflector body (12) with a surface (20) to intercept and reflect the visible spectrum radiant energy which is positioned within the reflector so that at least 50 percent of the visible spectrum radiant energy is directed towards the reflector surface, and a coating (36) on the surface of the reflector body from which the reflected radiance of each wavelength of visible spectrum radiant energy directed towards the reflector surface when combined with the visible spectrum radiant energy not directed towards the reflector surface produces a total light output in substantial accordance with a specified formula.
Abstract:
An apparatus for producing spectrally different light distributions which have the same irradiance is disclosed. This apparatus contains a light source and an adjustable, opto-mechanical filter means. The filter means contains an adjustment means for simultaneously varying the spectral distribution of light passing through the filter while maintaining the flux of the light at a substantially constant irradiance level.
Abstract:
A lamp (600) for producing a spectral light distribution which is substantially identical in uniformity to the spectral light distribution of a desired daylight throughout the entire visible light spectrum from about 380 to about 780 nanometers. The lamp (600) contains a lamp envelope (604) comprised of an exterior surface, a light-producing element (602) substantially centrally disposed within said lamp envelope (604), and a coating (620) on said exterior surface of said lamp envelope (604).
