Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plurality of transfer apparatuses and a plurality of transfer methods for rationalizing the transfer of a plurality of samples in a working platform. SOLUTION: A transfer apparatus (1) and a plurality of methods for transferring and preferably characterizing an object (2) in a sample operation system (3) are disclosed. The object (2) is placed on at least one substantially horizontal working area (4) having a vertical dimension (X) and a horizontal dimension (Y) which runs substantially perpendicular thereto. The transfer apparatus (1) includes at least one rail (5), which is placed parallel to the X direction, and a transfer unit (6). The transfer unit (6) can move on the rail (5) in the X direction by using a drive section having a motor-equipped holding mechanism (8) for holding the object (2).
