Abstract: A navigation system integrated with knowledge of active emergency alerting system alert data and up to date Doppler weather radar data, to provide a visual representation of an alert area and/or current weather patterns on a map, and to automatically navigate a subscriber device away from an affected area, e.g., an alert area, an area under severe weather. The inventive navigation system displays NEXRAD Doppler weather radar data on a map by integrating a NEXRAD feed into the map and allowing a user to enable/disable the NEXRAD feed as a map overlay. The inventive navigation system also automatically routes or reroutes a subscriber device to avoid areas under severe weather. The navigation system is also integrated with a conventional CMSP gateway in an emergency alerting system to provide: a visual representation of an alert area on a map and to automatically route/reroute a subscriber device around an alert area.

Abstract: A location privacy configuration module enables location determination to emergency services only relating to an emergency text message or emergency text message session. An emergency text message transmitted to an emergency number is routed to an emergency text message server, which initiates an emergency text indicator for each emergency text message, and requests location information for the emergency texting device by transmitting the emergency text indicator and a location request to a location determination server. Location of the emergency texting device may be obtained without acquiring customer authorization for location determination. The originating text messaging device acknowledges receipt of the emergency text indicator/location request combination and checks the location privacy setting configured thereon. Location determination is permitted if configured to permit location determination if emergency text messaging.

Abstract: A Secure Location Session Manager (SLSM) is an intelligent router for open mobile alliance (OMA) Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) Version 1.0 (and later) messages best implemented when multiple, geo-diverse SUPL servers are deployed in a distributed environment, such as an active-active redundant configuration within a wireless carrier's network. In a standalone option, the SLSM acts as a "middleman" for all SUPL positioning messages between a mobile device and a responsible SUPL server. In an embedded option, the SLSM resides within an existing server. The SLSM manages and stores session information for all pending and ongoing SUPL positioning sessions in internal tables for routing and load balancing purposes. The external interfaces of the SLSM consist of OMA ULP messages.

Abstract: A prepaid messaging solution that uses open networking standards and which supports pre-payment of enhanced Internet messaging services. The prepaid architectures and method accurately determine if a subscriber has sufficient account balance to deliver a complete short message, prior to delivery of the message. The short message may be prevented from being delivered if insufficient funds are in the subscriber's account. A prepaid tariff engine (150) is extensible over a TCP/IP network (195), and supports remote interaction with the SMSC (120) and web chat servers (170) for the purpose of applying a real-time billing charge for each message.
