Abstract: A method includes storing a reference fingerprint for a first device in a database; operating a second device in an identity authentication mode; receiving, by the second device while operating in the identity authentication mode, a signal transmission from an unknown device; determining, by the second device, a fingerprint for the unknown device based on the signal transmission; responsive to the fingerprint of the unknown device matching the reference fingerprint for the first device, processing a data packet associated with the signal transmission; and responsive to the fingerprint of the unknown device not matching the reference fingerprint for the first device, ignoring the data packet associated with the signal transmission.

Abstract: A first BLUETOOTH device includes a transceiver configured to receive a control procedure packet from a second BLUETOOTH device during a BLUETOOTH connection event of a BLUETOOTH connection between the first BLUETOOTH device and the second BLUETOOTH device. The first BLUETOOTH device also includes a controller coupled to the transceiver and configured to set a more data (MD) bit of a response packet to the control procedure packet to a first value independent of whether the first BLUETOOTH device has more data to send to the second BLUETOOTH device. The first value corresponds to maintaining the BLUETOOTH connection event open. The transceiver is further configured to send the response packet to the second BLUETOOTH device during the BLUETOOTH connection event.

The method includes communicating over the second channel during the second connection event from the first BLUETOOTH device to the second BLUETOOTH device using renegotiated second channel specific parameters.
