Abstract:
A ballistic panel is described including a core layer having a first major surface and a second major surface, the core layer including a ballistic gel. The first layer of ballistic resistant material is on the first major surface of the core layer. A second layer of ballistic resistant material is on the second major surface of the core layer.
Abstract:
A fire retardant, transparent panel and method of making the panel, that is especially well suited for use on mobile platforms, and particularly on aircrafts. The panel is a composite of a transparent matrix and a plurality of fire-retardant nanoparticles. The nanoparticles have a diameter less than the visible spectrum of light, and in one form between about 0.1 nm to about 400 nm in diameter. The nanoparticles may be arranged randomly or in predetermined patterns within the matrix during manufacturing of the panel. The panel is lightweight, transparent and yet highly fire retardant.

Abstract:
A fire seal end cap including a cap portion and a plug portion, wherein the plug portion protrudes from the cap portion, and wherein the cap portion and the plug portion are formed from a fire-resistant material.
Abstract:
A multi-member assembly including a first structural member, a second structural member opposed from the first structural member, a crossover seal positioned between the first and second structural members, wherein the crossover seal defines a bore, and an end cap including a cap portion and a plug portion protruding from the cap portion, wherein the plug portion is at least partially received in the bore such that the cap portion bridges the first and second structural members.
Abstract:
A containment system including a primary containment layer at least partially defining a primary containment volume, the primary containment layer including a thermal material, a secondary containment layer at least partially defining a secondary containment volume, the secondary containment layer including a gas capturing material, wherein the primary containment layer is positioned in the secondary containment volume, and a tertiary containment layer at least partially defining a tertiary containment volume, the tertiary containment layer including a ballistic material, wherein the secondary containment layer is positioned in the tertiary containment volume.
Abstract:
A device indicates the location of an air leak in a vacuum bag used to process composite parts. The device includes a layer of material on the inner face of the bag that changes in appearance due to an oxidation-reduction reaction in areas of the layer exposed to oxygen caused by a leak in the bag.
