Abstract:
Provided herein is a load sensing device. In one embodiment, the device comprises a load cell adapted to receive a force, an input/output interface, and an adjustable attachment mechanism adapted to reversibly attach a surgical device. In another embodiment, the load cell detects the amount of force applied during the deployment of the surgical device in a patient and outputs a force value representative thereof via the input/output interface. Also provided herein are methods of making and using load sensing devices.
Abstract:
A cavity resonator or filter constructed on electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) substrate is provided that includes an external controlling assemble having a plurality of components configured to change a working frequency of the cavity resonator or filter. A dual-band bandpass filter is provided that includes two or more single band filters on a single EBG substrate and an external controlling assemble having a plurality of components configured to change a working frequency of the cavity resonator or filter.

Various embodiments herein comprise a handheld load sensing device. In one embodiment, the device comprises a force sensor (e.g., a mechanical spring or an electromechanical load cell) adapted to receive a force, an input/output interface, and an adjustable attachment mechanism adapted to reversibly attach a surgical device. In another embodiment, the force sensor detects the amount of force applied during the deployment of the surgical device in a patient and outputs a force value representative thereof via the input/output interface. Abstract:
A miniature wireless pressure sensor has an inductor and a capacitor. The inductor and the capacitor form a L-C resonator with a resonate frequency. The inductor's inductance is affected by a slidable electro-magnetic element. When an outside pressure is applied onto the element, it causes the element to move and such movement changes the inductance of the inductor. Because of that, the resonate frequency is changed. Therefore, the change in resonate frequency indicates a change in the outside pressure. The L-C resonator is calibrated to correlate with the outside pressure. Such a miniature wireless pressure sensor facilitates the monitoring of physiological pressure in different part of human body such as eyes and cranium.

An apparatus and method utilizes photonics, particularly lasers, and biometric feedback for physiological and neurological stimulation. While many areas of the body are candidates, such laser stimulation is particularly directed to the outer ear. Lasers positioned over the ear stimulate targets on the outer ear for pain and stress management and regulation of the autonomic nervous system to affect symptoms and clinical conditions. Laser positioning, wavelength, aiming, focus, power, power density, timing, and sequencing are managed and modified dynamically in real time to effect a personalized and effective treatment protocol.
Abstract:
Cell identification systems and methods using micropallet arrays are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a cell identification strategy involves detecting the expression patterns of markers that are expressed on cells to uniquely identify different cell populations within heterogeneous mixtures of cells. The cell markers may be on the cell surface or intracellular in location. The cell markers are interrogated using monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that are directly conjugated to flourophores. The mAb-flourophore conjugates are used to detect the presence or absence and relative level of expression of each of the cell markers using laser scanning confocal microscopy.

Abstract:
Micro-electromagnetically actuated latched miniature relay switches formed from laminate layers comprising a spring and magnet, electromagnetic coils, magnetic latching material, and transmission line with contacts. Preferably the miniature relay switches transmit up to about 50 W of DC or AC line power, and carry up to about 10 A of load current, with an overall volume of less than about 100 mm3. In addition to switching large power, the device preferably requires less than 3 V to actuate, and has a latching feature that retains the switch state after actuation without the need for external applied voltage or current.
