Abstract: PURPOSE:To analyze an anion with high sensitivity by adding the porphyrin complex of a metal which forms the hardly soluble salt with the anion to be analyzed to a liquid to be inspected and subjecting the liberated porphyrin to absorptiometry. CONSTITUTION:The Ag-porphyrin complex soln. is sent by a pump 1 to a reaction coil 2 and a buffer soln. of 11.5 pH is supplied by the pump 1 to the reaction coil 2 through a sepn. column 3 packed with an anion exchange resin through a separate route. The liquid to be inspected contg. sulfide ions, iodide ions, etc., is added to this buffer soln. The absorbance at 114nm of the reaction liquid flowing out of the reaction coil 2 is measured. The anion is analyzed down to a low concn. by utilizing the absorption characteristic of the porphyrin in this way.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method, for a nitrous acid ion concentration, in which nitrous acid ions can be determined simply and with high sensitivity. SOLUTION: A porphyrin compound, as a reagent, which is provided with an amino group at a porphyrin nucleus is added to, and mixed with, a sample solution which contains nitrous acid ions. The absorbance of a porphyrin compound which is provided with a diazo group generated by a reaction with the nitrous acid ions or an intensity of fluorescence at a time when the compound is excited is measured. A nitrous acid ion concentration which is contained in the sample solution is found.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to discolor a material in an arbitrarily specified pH range with porphylin having a high mol extinction coefficient as a pH indicator, by supporting and fixing hydrophobic porphylin with water-insoluble macromolecules, and the like. CONSTITUTION:Hydrophobic porphylin is supported and fixed with water- insoluble macromolecules. Or the hydrophobic porphylin and an organic material having positive or negative electric charge are supported and fixed with the water-insoluble macromolecules together. Thus a pH sensitive solid-state material is obtained. As the method for manufacturing the pH sensitive thin film, the water-insoluble macromolecules are dissolved into a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran. This material and porphylin are added. The organic material having the positive or negative charge is further added as required. Thereafter, this is developed on a transparent resin plate, a glass plate or the surface of water. This method is simple. Thus, a very thin film is obtained. In this way, discoloration can be performed in an arbitrarily specified pH range, with porphylin having a high mol extinction coefficient as a pH indicator.
