Abstract: PURPOSE:To treat a wide range of org. materials in a short time by adding acids to waste liquid contg. org. materials to make the liquid acidic, adding H2O2 of the amt. corresponding to the content of the org. materials, mixing both and passing the liquid through a tower packed with metallic iron, ferro alloy or a mixture thereof. CONSTITUTION:Waste water contg. org. materials is first introduced into a reagent feeding tank A, and acids are added thereto to control the pH to , Fe , etc. in the tower as catalysts, by which the org. materials are decomposed quickly to H2O, and CO2. The waste water after the treatment is released through a pH control tank D, flocculating tank E, settling tank F, neutralizing tank G and releasing tank H.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To positively perform the purification of acidic waste water contg. organic substance, by adding an amount of hydrogen peroxide corresponding to the contained organic substance to the waste water being mixed and agitated with powdery metallic or alloyed iron, and controlling its reaction by a pH meter or timer. CONSTITUTION:Waste water contg. organic substance is let flow into a pH- adjusting tank 1, adjusted therein to pH below 3 by the addition of an acid, fed into a reactor tank 2 where powdery metallic or alloyed iron is previously added, and then reacted by adding H2O2 to the waste water being agitated. The amount of H2O2 is increased or decreased in response to that of the waste water to be treated, but pref. at a ratio below 10/1,500 by the water to be treated. The reaction is performed by controlling the time of agitation with a pH meter or timer. When the reaction is finished, the agitation is stopped to precipitate the powdery metallic or alloyed iron. The resulting supernatant liquid is fed into a pH-adjusting tank 3. In the reactor tank 2, H2O2 is rapidly reacted by using Fe , etc. formed from the powdery iron or the like as a catalyst, and various kinds of organic substance are decomposed into H2O and CO2 in a short time.
