Abstract: A system comprises a substrate 4, an incident optical waveguide 5 formed on the substrate for receiving a light beam incident thereto, two phase-shift optical waveguides 6 formed on the substrate 4 to be branched from the incident optical waveguide 4 for varying a phase of a transmitted light beam in response to an electric field intensity, an outgoing optical waveguide 7 formed on the substrate 4 to join the phase-shift optical waveguides 6. At least one of the phase-shift optical waveguides 6 has a reversely polarized portion 8 reversely polarized. A light transmission film may be formed at one or a plurality of portions on the phase-shift optical waveguides 6. A buffer layer 14 may be formed on a part on or in the vicinity of the phase-shift optical waveguides 6. A transparent substance film for imparting a stress to one of the phase-shift optical waveguides 6 may be formed on a part or a whole of a portion without the buffer layer 14. A stress imparting member may be formed to impart a stress to a part of one of the phase-shift optical waveguides 6. A light irradiation unit 26 may be formed to irradiate a light beam onto a part or a whole of one of the phase-shift optical waveguides 6.

Partly on one of the phase-shift light waveguides (6), there may be provided a member which exerts stress on it. A device (26) may also be provided for irradiating partly or entirely the phase-shift light waveguides (6) with light.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive dielectric filter whose number of parts is small by providing slits which face each other in the prescribed positions of the facing sides of a dielectric block where conductive films are formed on the whole faces and forming center conductors in the slits except for prescribed parts. SOLUTION: The external surfaces of the dielectric block 10 is covered by the conductor films and an external conductor 11 is formed. The two slits 14 are formed from the facing sides to the center. The center conductors are formed on the inner surfaces of the recessed parts in the slits 14 except for the prescribed width of the edge 18 of a front face 15, the prescribed width of the edge 19 of the side in the direction of an extended shaft and the prescribed width of the edge near the front face of the dielectric being a rectangular parallelopiped in the center. The center conductors 12 which are electrically connected on the back face 16 and are electrically connected with the edges of the front face and the side faces is closely formed. Electrodes 13 which are insulated from the external conductor 11 and are capacity-connected to the center conductors are formed on the upper face of the rectangular plane on the upper side of the dielectric block 10.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive dielectric filter with excellent productivity in which miniaturization is attained without limitation with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The dielectric filter is made up of a dielectric block 10 having a non-throughhole 2 along a center axis in the lengthwise direction, which is covered by a conductive film 3 for the entire surface including the non- throughhole 2. Two input/output electrodes 4 formed electrically with insulation from the conductive film 3 opposite to each other are provided to two adjacent sides in the vicinity of the non-throughhole 2 at the outside of the dielectric block 10 over the two sides. The non-throughhole 2 is provided toward a ground plane in the input/output electrodes 4 in a height direction of the dielectric block 10. In the case of the dielectric filter, since a part equivalent to an open end face (nonconductive face) in a conventional λ/4 dielectric coaxial resonator is shut, the production of a leaked electromagnetic wave is prevented.
