Abstract: A polymer electrolyte material excelling in not only proton conductivity but also fuel cutoff properties; and a polymer electrolyte type fuel cell of hig h efficiency. In particular, a polymer electrolyte material wherein in a hydro us state the fraction of antifreeze water (Rw1) represented by the following formula (S1) is in the range of 20 to 100 wt.%. Rw1 = [Wnf/(Wfc + Wnf)] x 10 0 (S1) wherein Wnf: amount of antifreeze water per g of dry weight of polymer electrolyte material, and Wfc: amount of low-melting-point water per g of dr y weight of polymer electrolyte material.

Abstract: An aromatic polyamide film which has a thermal shrinkage in the transverse direction of 0.2 to 8 % as measured at 220 ~C under a load of 80 kg/cm2 and has a ten-point average surface roughness, Rz, of 10 to 200 nm on its side opposite to the side where a magnetic layer is to be formed; and a magnetic recording medium comprising this film and a magnetic layer formed on one side thereof. Using the film having a high-temperature thermal shrinkage and a surface property respectively within the above ranges can provide a magnetic recording medium which is reduced in curling and has excellent surface flatness.

Abstract: Disclosed is a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer directly formed on at least one surface of a base film that comprises, as the essential ingredient, an aromatic polyamide, in which the number of protrusions having a height of at least 10 nm on the surface of the magnetic layer, Na(10) (/mm ), the number of protrusions having a height of at least 50 nm thereon, Na(50) (/mm ), and the number of protrusions having a height of at least 10 nm on the surface of the base film coated with the magnetic layer, Na(10)' (/mm ), all satisfy the following formulae: 2 x 10 ≤ Na(10) ≤ 2 x 10 , 0 ≤ Na(50) ≤ 5 x 10 , -0.9 ≤ (Na(10) - Na(10)')/Na(10)' ≤ 0. The medium has, as the non-magnetic substrate (base film), a highly-tough, aromatic polyamide film, and the surface profile of its magnetic layer and that of its base film are specifically controlled. Therefore, its overall thickness can be reduced without lowering its recording capacity. Such high-capacity, thin tapes of the medium have good running durability, and the reliability for data recording and reading thereon is high. The medium is favorable to computer data recording thereon.

Abstract: The present invention provides an aromatic polyamide film wherein a heat-shrinkage in the TD direction at 220 DEG C is of 0.2 to 8% under a load of 80 kg/cm , and wherein an average ten-point roughness Rz of the surface that is opposite to a surface for providing a magnetic layer is 10 to 200 nm; and a magnetic recording medium, wherein a magnetic layer is provided on a surface of the film. Since the heat-shrinkage at a high temperature and the properties of the surface of the film are within the confines of the present invention, there is obtained a magnetic recording medium having a high degree of flatness with small curls, and a high recording density by using the film.
