Abstract: 1451270 Polymer mixture dispersions TORAY INDUSTRIES Inc 25 July 1974 [28 July 1973] 33254/74 Heading C3P A dispersion consists of an organic liquid medium containing a block or graft copolymer dispersion stabilizer and dispersed particles of a mixture of a copolymer of at least two different monomers of the vinyl series and an alkylated melamine-formaldehyde resin. The dispersion is made by copolymerizing in an organic liquid the at least two different monomers in the presence of the block or graft copolymer dispersion stabilizer, optionally in the presence of the aminoplast, adding the aminoplast if not already present, and then altering the solubility parameter of the organic liquid by at least 0À5 in the direction of increasing the difference between the solubility parameters of the organic liquid and of the copolymer of the vinyl series. This alteration can be done either by adding a suitable organic liquid or by distilling off a suitably chosen organic liquid from an initially chosen mixture of liquids. The composition may contain pigments.
