Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare highly pure terephthalic acid by washing the crude terephthalic acid, obtained by the oxidation of p-xylene in acetic acid in the presence of catalysts and an accelerator, with acetic acid, the acetic acid is recovered by the concentration of the washed solution by evaporation, the residual solid is removed, and the residual fluid is recycled.
