Abstract: A fibrous strand including at least some short fibers and composed of two or more kinds of fibers of different melting point temperatures is, concurrently with false twisting, and in a vibrating condition, heated by a heater of the non-contact type at temperatures between the highest and lowest melting point temperatures of the component fibers so as to produce spun-like yarns of a substantially twistless configuration containing uniformly scattered points of inter-fiber binding and fibers crimped in the form of a coil.

Abstract: A yarn is mfd. from two fibre types with different melting points by a twisting and thermal treatment, with a fibre of a third type being introduced with a melting point lower than the fibre with the highest melting point and which dissolves in a solvent. The fibre strand is heated without contact to a temp. between the highest and lowest melting points of the fibres and given a false twist, followed by treatment with a solvent which does not affect the two main fibre types. The process gives a yarn which, when worked into a fabric, gives stability and hard wearing, a strong resistance to pilling with a light crimped handle, with good stretch and elasticity - particularly against pressure - giving a consistent looped surface and sheen.
