    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to spin a number of filament yarns continuously with scarcely introduced twists, by passing a synthetic filament tow consisting of the filament yarns through a suction apparatus consisting of a suction hole, a flexible tube, etc. connected in a specific order, and drawing around the yarns. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic filament tow, e.g. a polyester subtow, is passed through a suction apparatus consisting of a suction hole, a flexible tube, a waste yarn reservoir and a negative pressure producing source connected in the order and drawn around in a stretch-breaking stage. For example, the negative pressure producing source is connected to the waste yarn reservoir with a shield put between them not to pass the yarn waste therethrough, and the flexible tube 3, e.g. a bellows hose, is extended from the yarn waste reservoir, and the suction hole 1 is attached to the tip thereof.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To treat the terminal portion of a rope-like article produced from fibers having a high elastic modulus, or the like, in a short processing time at a low processing cost and in high reliability by inserting the terminal portion of the rope-like article covered with a resin layer into a metal pipe piece and subsequently pressing the metal pipe piece to tightly fasten the terminal portion. CONSTITUTION: This method for treating the terminal portion of a rope-like article comprises covering a rope-like article 1 formed from fibers having a tensile strength of >=15 g/d and an initial tensile resistance of >=400 g/d with a resin layer 2, inserting the terminal portion of the rope-like article 1 covered with the resin layer 2 into a metal pipe piece 3, and subsequently pressing the metal pipe piece 3 to tightly fasten the rope-like article 1 to the pipe piece 3.
