Abstract: This method for manufacturing a film/catalyst assembly, which is formed by bonding a catalyst layer to an electrolyte film, comprises: a liquid addition step for adding, under an air atmosphere, a liquid to only a surface of a pre-bonding electrolyte film; and a thermocompression bonding step for bonding, by thermocompression bonding, the liquid-added electrolyte film to a catalyst layer. This manufacturing method achieves, with high productivity, in the manufacturing of a membrane-catalyst assembly formed by bonding a polyelectrolyte film to a catalyst layer, both relaxation of thermocompression bonding conditions and improved adhesion between the catalyst layer and the electrolyte film.

Abstract: A method for producing a membrane electrode assembly, in which a gas diffusion layer with a catalyst layer is bonded to an electrolyte membrane, said method comprising a liquid application step wherein a liquid is applied only to the surface of the catalyst layer before bonding in the ambient atmosphere, and a thermocompression bonding step wherein the electrolyte membrane and the gas diffusion layer with the catalyst layer to which the liquid has been applied are bonded to each other by means of thermocompression. Consequently, the present invention provides a production method that is capable of achieving a good balance between relaxation of the conditions for thermocompression bonding and improvement of the adhesion between an electrolyte membrane and a gas diffusion layer with a catalyst layer, with high productivity, during the production of a membrane electrode assembly in which a polymer electrolyte membrane and a gas diffusion layer with a catalyst layer are bonded to each other.

A die cleaning apparatus equipped on the die coater like this is constituted of a cleaning unit 100 which brings a cleaning tool 110 fitted on the apex part into slide-contact with the surroundings of an outlet 2 of the die 1 to scrape excess coating liq., a liq. discharging unit 200 for discharging and recovering unnecessary liq. and a washing unit 300 for washing the cleaning tool 110 with a solvent. In addition, the washing unit 300 always holds the cleaning tool 110 clean by spraying the solvent from a solvent tank 331 to the cleaning tool 110 from a nozzle 320 through a pipe 320.

This air bunbble is moved upward by the reciprocating motion of the piston 121 and is carried up to the vicinity of an exhaust port 108 of working fluid side space 105. If a cock valve 111 is opened at this time, air bubble can be easily exhausted to the outside through a tube 112. Namely, the exhaust port 108 is located on the upper side of a working fluid exit/entrance 107 of a working fluid side chamber 102 by taking the moving of air bubble into consideration.
