Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for vapor deposition best-suited for obtaining a vapor-deposited film showing outstanding oxygen and water vapor barrier properties. SOLUTION: This biaxially stretched polyester film is structured of at least two laminated layers such as a main layer and an auxiliary layer formed on at least one surface of the main layer. In addition, 5 to 200 pieces of a 3 nm- high or higher microprotuberance (N3) are formed per an area of 4×10 -12 m 2 on at least one of the auxiliary layer-side surfaces. Further, one of the auxiliary layers contains an inert particle whose average particle diameter is 0.1 to 10 times the thickness of the auxiliary layer, and the content of this particle is 0.01 to 5 wt.% of the polyester resin of the auxiliary layers. Thus, it is possible to obtain a transparent vapor-deposited film with excellent oxygen and water vapor barrier properties using the polyester film for vapor deposition with the described characteristics.
